Film Review – Vivaah

The film directed by Sooraj Barjatya, like his other films, portrays a beautiful story which is a fairy tale indeed. The main roles are portrayed by Shahid Kapoor as Prem, Amrita Rao as Poonam(bittu), Alok Nath as Poonam’s father, Anupam Kher as Prem’s father. All the roles are perfect and acting of all people suited the story and the characters. Amrita is absolutely beautiful and sweet and cute and what not!! (The perfect girl in everyone’s eyes as the story demands) and Shahid does his job pretty well, as the good-hearted boy of this generation(Again as the story demands). The on-screen chemistry of both is really wonderfull.

The story theme as like other films of the director, is of a middle aged girl family and a high caste boy family. Here the only difference is the boy and girl does not fall into love on their own, instead its an arranged marriage from the start, decided by both families in the form of a proposal through a common friend. Poonam stays with her father’s brother(Alok Nath) and their family. The Chacha and Chachi have their own daughter(the one who comes as model in ads! dono name..) Chachi is not so kind towards Poonam coz, she is more fairer and beautiful than her own daughter, Chotti. For the extremes, Prem’s family runs a very prestigious business spread over world. but family is very kind hearted and does not mind the proposal from the small village. The engagement happens on the day when the groom ppl come to the girls’ house and marriage is fixed after 6 months.

In between, both families have a picnic at Somsarovar for few days, after which Prem flys over to Japan(or some country..) for project work. All the while, Prem and Poonam develops a mutual understanding over time. After coming back, marriage preparations are in high swing, when the story twist occurs!

The film is beautifully framed into a good family drama theme, with good meaningful dialogoues which is true to some extent. In the start, Prem’s father talks long about marraige and stuff to his son which is good and true to all those who are swinging thoughts regarding marriage. Then the feelings and tensions between the engaged people and the non-stop talks that they do makes an interesting watch. The small roles played by Prem’s elder brother, bhabhi(wife) and their son’s jokes, the cheerful Chotti etc gives comedy touch to the otherwise serious film. And the film is a full fledged family movie genre.

Overall rating: 8/10

Scribble

the wind is blowing hard,
and the storm is very bad,
the heights of gloom,
the silence in the room,
everything is making me mad.

friends are found with dark masks worn,
seems to have the world gone torn,
it is dark and cold at night,
and just leaves my mind plain white.

kahi bhi pyar nahi
kahi bhi vishwas nahi,
bahut ummeed thi badalne ki
lekin zamana badla hi nahi…..

intezar ki bhi had hai,
na din hai na raat hai,
ab dil ki baat kise bataye,
har waqt tho barsaat hai…

kehte hai zindagi tho ek samjhauta hai,
dil ko mankar chalo tho saaf raastha hai
jo hoga zaroor mushkil aur sunsaan
aur sab ke nazaron mein woh nadaan
lekin hai sukoon uske dil mein
jise dekh nahi sakte kisi aur mein
ek hi umeed hai baki is raasthe par
chalne ke liye raazi ho koi humsafar…..

A long day i guess…

Today i guess was a very bad day… 🙁 After few rounds of shopping and happy moments with mom, I lost both my credit and debit cards… Until I came home and called the customer care people and blocked the cards, it was very stressful moments. A ray of hope like suddenly fading out and showing me the symptoms of some unknown truth as if a warning is being given… Why am i feeling that everything is slipping out of my hands…. 🙁

Few thoughts…

The world is really progressing I guess. Atleast thats what elder people say. At home, its frequent that we hide many things from our parents because of the fear that they won’t understand this and that. Being just one year into this corporate world and out of college, the family starts looking out for grooms and advertising in matrimonial sites for suitable companions for their young ones. If we remind them that we don’t want to settle in now, they ask why. Why? Hmmm… I dono how to explain. On this, then they ask, “ok, is there someone?!!!!” .. “What??!!”  Maybe the freedom we enjoy, is an addiction and they don’t want us to fall for that. Ok fine. But how do we determine the right time? Is it the age? I guess its just one of the factors. There are many which goes unnoticed. I guess we need time to set the foundation for many things like our career,(you may ask, one year is not enough kya? well.. its high time I agree, but for me unfortunately it is not enough!).. The preparation for taking up the responsibilities, the time to build up the managerial capability for planning between work and family and relatives. They say, you’ll need a companion to live life n all and I agree with it too, but we just fear the additional responsibilities that come with the bonus. All these things matters more to women, because there are many young girls who are forced to accept and adjust their career growth after marriage..
So many decisions to make, very little time and a very short life!!!! Hmmmm!….

Many a people, including my mom, have asked me what is it that I am looking forward to? And I don’t have any answer. I am sure no girl of my age would have a true answer. I feel all are searching for some one. Even the guys are doing the same. They check out the hot chicks to show off or to enjoy hanging out as friends, but at heart I am sure they want someone else as their dream girl. Sometimes we feel we found out the right one, and we feel we are fully in love and that this is the final one etc, but later when reality dawns onto us, we feel he/she was just a strong contestant in the contest. And ths contestants and their probability to win our heart and lose in another second is just a matter of time and destiny, the game which is played by the Unknown.
This reminds me of the dialogues in the film ‘Anand’ in which Rajesh Khanna says something like: ‘The world is a stage in which we are the actors and actresses playing a drama called life under the production and direction of the Unknown!’

Blog!!!

Long before I was tagged by rakesh. I am not sure whether I have the answers for the following, but still will give a try..
What according to you, is a blog?

A blog is an online journal which represents the thoughts and views of an individual. People can blog about their opinions, movie reviews, their frustrations, imaginations, dreams, fears and wishlists and many more…

How did you come to know abt blogging?

Initially when I was a forum member, lots of other members had their own web pages and their own weblogs(blog). I too was interested in creating a web page of my own using yahoo geocities, then a personal site using the same and then the blog using blogspot. I too had become a member of blogger.com. Also I tried to install forums based on phpbb or invision free. Then while searching for similar softwares, found many wordpress blogs. Then with the help of Sreejith who allowed me to share his server space for my blog, I setup this blog. I never planned or dreamt that I would be writing so many posts. But then I think blogging is very addictive like orkutting!

How far has it changed your perception?

It has given me much confidence to interpret and open up my mind. Also I have understood that many people like me have many views and thoughts and opinions which they write down as blog, which they dont express in person.

Are you true to yourself while blogging?

Of course yes.. I don’t know what do you mean by lying… 😛

Any blog you wish to be the author of and why?

As of now I dont have any. I just wish I have more free time for posting more on my blog.

What it has preached you?

Hmm.. Did not get the real meaning… If you mean what have you learnt by blogging, I would say, many people read your blog, say your friends and anonymous and through blogging many people are knowing you without you knowin about them.

Two of your fav. Blogs? And why?

I dont have much favourites….But I have liked Chandni’s blog and the topics..

One of your fav. Post by a fellow blogger?

I have always wanted to do a self-interview type post in blogs…

Any Blog friends! Who are they and why?

Lots!!! Lot of the forum members and online friends from whom I have been inspired to write this blog..

If provided opportunity would you like to meet a fellow blogger? Who? and why?

Hmm… none…. If you meet these pen pals, I am afraid I wont be able to write anymore bcos of the fear that they know me personally by now.. 🙁

Name a blogger, who comments regularly in each post of yours?

I dont think anyone posts that much regularly….

A blog, where you comment regularly?

I dont comment on anyone or anything 😛

How does it feel to be called as a blogger?

Nothing special about it!

🙂

Phew…. Now I’d like to tag Chandni, Sreejith, Deep and Andy…

Bye.. Have a nice time!!! 🙂
