Wood pieces makeover
Few months ago, after doing some interior works at home, I had got these wood pieces as leftovers. Initially I planned to do it myself with the help of tutorials from Woodooz, but then, patience and I never gel together.
The big piece was the leftover after they cut a wood paneling horizontally. The small pieces are the left over of the long posts which is quite common these days in many houses.
So with the help of The Spinning Wheel, a store near Whitefield, the wood pieces got a makeover. They sanded, painted, fixed wood on the back of on the big rectangular piece, and fixed the Rajasthani tiles. The idea was to create a wall art, but I haven’t yet jumped into being the drillman to install it on wall.
Here is how they look for now. They are currently placed above the shoerack, so that I could take a picture and upload it here on request.
I am not satisfied with this arrangement, and may either take them back to the cupboard till I find a more satisfying solution.
Any other ideas of how to use them??
The Fast Dozen Meme
Its been very long that I did a meme. The last time I did was this. Hence it was very refreshing to do the Fast Dozen meme, rather than mind boggling for ideas. I got the idea from Shilpa Garg who was also trying to filling up posts, by stealing another tag! So here I go…
What is the last book that you passed on to someone else to read?
I am actually quite possessive about my books. Yes, I do remember giving magazines to my neighbour which she never returned for which I am actually at cross with her. 🙂
The one song you secretly or not so secretly want to sing at karaoke?
I was totally mesmerized by Titli song by Anjali in the Indian Idol, that I then searched for the original and heard it. Its indeed a beautiful song, and if ever my vocal chords call me, I would give it a try. By the by, have you heard of my other karaoke which I did few years ago?
If you had to pick a new name for yourself, what would it be?
I actually have a nickname at home, so not sure I would want anymore. But if I found one, it would be short, easily pronounceable and with some meaning. Like I how I named N. Her big eyes was the remarkable attraction in the first week, and we were searching for names. It struck as the answer to “first thing what I notice about her”, when I was thinking about the question in the loo. As they say, all answers appear in your mind during those times! If I get a new name for myself similarly, I promise to blog about it.!
What do you wish your administrator or boss would notice?
If I were working, I would have wished him or her to notice, how I get the mood swings so often, and would allow me to take off or be unproductive for quite a while, believing in me that I would sprang up back with that freedom. Bounce baby, bounce.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
That my current boss, RK sometimes behaves like “I don’t know anything” even if he does. 😐
What holds you back in pursuing your biggest dream?
Myself! Who else. I consider that we bound ourselves by invisible threads to please our family and society, that we never dream of breaking the boundaries and really work towards living the actual dream.
Why do you think you are a lovable person?
Am I? Maybe because its in my genes!! I am a Libran, you know..
If every day had an extra hour in it, what would you do with it?
Currently, I guess I would just waste it surfing more and more, checking out social media, gossip videos like Koffee with Karan, reading hot news etc.
The last song you turned up in your car or house was?
In our car, it would be “Mary had a little lamb”, as it would be the first requirement from our little N after we get into the car.
In our house, it would be the music channels, playing some new songs, which nowadays skips over my head.
What is a secret talent you may have?
Did I tell that I do play veena? Though its been ages, someone actually heard me playing that.
Your favorite thing to do outside when it’s not too cold out in the winter?
Window shopping in malls? If its actually outside, I would love to have a bike ride nearby with RK, checking out the small alleys, roads, restaurants, cafe’s, etc. I remember having done the same with my father. After picking me up from school or the tuition classes and while returning home, he will try to explore new roads to gather information on where it leads to, what shops it have, whether its a new shortcut etc. There would be no talk, but we used to silently explore the nearby areas in his old Rajdoot.
How do you respond if someone asks you an inappropriate or nosy question?
With some blunt answer. Unfortunately, we are not superstars or public figures to be allowed to say “no comments”, though I do reply the same when there is no other way.
Pick this tag up if you are searching ideas to come out of mental block, or to fill up a blogathon, or for a refreshing change.
Strangers in the night
That day both were together,
And sitting next to each other,
One was chatting heavily on phone,
the other lost in her own thoughts.
As the night progressed,
Conversations got started,
And numbers were exchanged.
The relation grew like a flower
Attracting wrath from every corner
For theirs was not an ordinary,
Though it seemed perfect in their memory.
Over the days the flower drooped,
Unable to bear the stains and poops.
And then they did that too together.
From strangers in the night,
To the partners in death forever,
The travel they did together,
Had changed their lives tonight.

Yay I finally did write on a prompt!
Pulling yourself up
I am intrigued by the personal experience of positive result by the use of Reiki for anger management. I did attend a trial yoga class before, and though it made me realize how stiff my muscles are, it did not persuade me to change my perception that it is overrated. For me, its just another form of exercise and like other exercises, gym, aerobics, dance, yoga too has many advantages and thats it. I have never been a fan of Baba Ramdev, and to think of it, I think that’s when I started disliking yoga. It was getting so popular, and like students being forced to do engineering, I was also made to tempt with an inflated yoga balloon. So this time, I am thinking of giving Reiki a try, but still not decided on when.
A bit of goal searching, led me to register on various sites, of which LiveYourLegend tops the list. It made me realize there are several other people in world, like me, searching for life goals, passion, mentors, guides to help them out. The Fleximoms was the first website I stumbled across, where I heard about career counseling. The concept of life coach and career coach was entirely new to me. The flow of questions thrown at me for answering and the resulting brainstorming session with myself, somehow gives me hope to move on.
I had started this post on 9.30pm, thinking I would do some meme to write for today’s post. But rather than revealing myself, it came naturally, that its better to share the few links I had, to others who may be in the same boat. So go on, find yourself, change yourself and pull yourself.
Weekend tidbits
Anyways, as you might have noticed, I was struggling (I still am) to get on some meaningful posts over this blog this weekend. I still have to get a hang of how to do so much in very little time, like, writing a blog, reading other blogs, commenting on them, marketing yourself, and making your presence felt on social media, gaining some knowledge for your personal development etc in the time available here and there, when N sleeps, or when RK take cares of her, etc. Most of the days, N pulls me to bed since she wants only ‘yours truly’ to cuddle up with her, though internally I love that crushing hug.
So I was reading some blogs, and came across the series of posts which can be called blogging debate, on whether Rama of Ramayana was a good man or not. Frankly, I am not fully religious, and hence neutral towards all of these mythological stories. For me, they are just made up stories told again and again over the ages, and should be considered just that, symbolic fantasy stories formulated over the ages by ancient people, so as to form a base ground or principles, which were to be followed by others for good living. But what is remarkable is how these stories have some similar traits in this century too. And then there are similar right or wrong debate on the deeds of Chanakya and many other historical events.
I have noticed majority of the young people question the unanswered questions the same way, either by being atheist or agnostic. Are you one of those or one of those very few ardent believers in this new generation?
