It was a pleasant experience watching this film in the big screen of Six degrees theatre at Sathyam Cinemas, last weekend. Shahrukh Khan was rocking and dashing and smashing in this new role of a coach of Indian Women Hockey Team. I guess the reviews are already spread all over internet, mentioning the amazing and superb performance of the girls and SRK n all.
For me, it was a different movie from the usual love soaps. The character was inspirational and motivational to overcome the challenges and difficulties of the life, be it in a hockey team or in our individual lives. It was released at the apt time, when India celebrates its Independence Day. Its the second film of SRK which depicted and enhanced India as whole, the first film being Swades. At some points of the film, I felt the message being portrayed as, Where there is a will, there is a way. The music and background score also was inspiring and matching with the screenplay, though not so rocking. The 16 girls has given an impressive performance, almost most of them are new to the film industry I guess, but you don’t feel that they are new or just actors in the film. They feel like the-girl-next-door and you feel their victory as yours. The ending was easily predictable, but surely, its a one-time watch, and even watchable twice, for the tickling comedy!!
Altogether I would rate this movie an 8.5, though it would reach upto 9, if the second half was intriguing and better.
Hmm… I saw this movie on the Independence Day (15th) and I liked it. According to me, it’s a good but not a great movie.
Actually it’s not a new concept, this theme is filmed to death. I have seen so many movies abt this subject. For a desi movie, yes this is a new concept.
Would rate it in my list of inspirational desi movies…
– Guru
– Lage Raho Munnabhai
– Iqbal
– Rang De Basanti
– Yuva
– Lakshya
– Swades
– Lagaan
and then…
Chak de India
I would rate 7/10. š
well, ya, its good, but not great, i agree..
Guru:
I have not seen, but from what I have heard from the story n reviews, I feel its about an individual more than being particularly about India.. Success of a man… thats it.
Lage raho Munnabhai:
I prefer Munnabhai MBBS.. here again, its not about India, but a new perspective towards human living. Both are worth watching. Cant compare…
Yuva, Lakshya: Not much idea, as I have not seen both fully. But its again about the youth and their thinking and their generation, just like Rang De Basanti.
Lagaan: Too much drama in the second half. 7/10
Swades: Superb. I guess I already rated it..
š
I listed inspirational movies. The inspiration need be India-themed. š
In that respect, I guess all the movies I listed is qualified. š
Typo there… the inspiration need NOT be India-themed.
What else could catch my eye other than your thought on this movie as I am visiting your blog, the first time via ashwinr.com and i am glad i did . For me the rating will go till 9. I am not a movie buff , but good movies , can watch any number of time and have already watch this twice . The best thing of the movie was the energy which it carried till the end , much more like a reality. And yeah checked wikpedia for this movie and realized that it was actually based on a true story actually. SRK rocks big time . He suit the role of a coach 100%, even though he is normally bookmarked for those big tears and emotional acting.
Watching this movie I myself wanted to write a review, but not owning a personal blog, was the major drawback. Glad I found the review here š … Nice blog out here …keep up the good work !! š
Ya its just like that Sharukh khan rocks!!!
and i loves that dialog “Team bananne ke liye taqat ki nahin niyat ki jaroorat hoti hai” š
^^ yup.. š some dialogues are too good…
