Yesterday, September 7th 2014 was Onam. But as one of my relatives said, “We are basically Konkanis, and not Malayalis” to explain on why we do not celebrate the festival of Kerala, it doesn’t make much difference to our day-to-day lives. Instead, we went to Lepakshi, a place of historical and architectural importance, 125km of Bangalore, for a long drive. And it was worth it. The joy of driving through highway is special indeed.
We also managed to catch up the onam feast in one of the Kerala restaurants, just in time before they got closed. And to top it off, a blockbuster thriller malayalam movie, “Drishyam“, in the comforts of our home.
What was your Onam special???

I love that you wrote this because this is my first time hearing of Onam or Lepakshi.
This is my first time to your blog, thanks to #microblog mondays. Like Mel, I haven’t heard of Onam or Lepakshi. When I was about 12 though, I had a penfriend from Bangalore. I’ve always wanted to go.
